Final Beach Romp Of 2011

The weather has been unusually mild in NY this winter. While the city was buried in snow this time last year, we were actually able to bring the pups to the beach today. Emi is increasingly showing her athletic side. She loves playing fetch. Unlike Shio (and other Shibas), she will bring the ball back almost every time. #fakeshiba alert!!

Shio's Birthday and NYCSR Christmas Donation!

Happy Birthday to our Shio! I can't believe that he's already 3 years old! Time flies when you're busy getting owned by a Shiba.

Shio and Emi a huge bone to celebrate Shio's birthday. And by huge, we mean bigger-than-Shio huge!

In honor of Emi's Gotcha Day and Shio's Birthday, we previously held a small blog post commenting fundraiser to earn money to donate to NYC Shiba Rescue.

Thanks to our friends and family for taking time out of their busy days to comment. You've helped raised $200 to donate to NYC Shiba Rescue!

Thank you also for all the well wishes for Emi's adoption. I'd like to point out that our favorite post was from Joanna, a volunteer at NYCSR. Her comment was, "Great story and beautiful pictures! I have already spoken to one couple who found the rescue, NYC Shiba Rescue, from reading your blog and have since applied to foster to adopt! Thanks for being out there and spreading the word for beautiful shibas looking for loving homes like yours!" In the beginning, we created this blog to document the process of raising Shio so we had something to look back on. As time passed and we met more and more people around the world with Shibas, it became a way to share our Shiba stories with the world. I'm so happy that we are now helping others that stumble upon this site to experience volunteering and fostering experiences through our eyes. Fostering is really a priceless experience!

Funds are still needed to help pay for the 10 of the NJ-22 Shibas rescued through NYCSR. If you would also like to make a Christmas donation, you can do so through this site: http://nycshibarescue.org/2011/11/funds-needed-10-nj-22/

Happy Shibamas!

We typically go away for Shibamas / New Year and have not been around to celebrate. So this year, we decided to stay home and hang with our pups and family. We were even able to participate in this year's Secret Shiba! Thanks to Tokyo and her pawrents, our secret Shiba, for the wonderful gift box. They were super thoughtful in every aspect of the gifting process, starting with picking out gifts for Emi even though we didn't register her as a secret Shiba because she was a foster at the time. They picked out Ugly toys and toy balls that matched out living room decor (bright pink and yellow-orange) and found out favorite treats! The wrapping paper and gifts are even color-coordinated to match! Humans even received delicious limited-edition Godiva chocolates for the holidays! What thoughtfulness!

Our favorite was the "I <3 Tokyo" and Tokyo's pictures plastered all over the outside of the package. I literally laughed out loud when I opened the door and the mail man was holding this crazy adorable package for our Shibas.

We learned a valuable lesson from Tokyo's seasoned #secretshiba skills that we will integrate for our next year's gift exchange: Use tissue paper so that the puppies can shred open their own gifts!

Merry Shibamas everybody!!

Shiba Meet-Up

We had the pleasure of meeting some of our #Twiba friends today! We were able to get Phineas and Tokyo to meet Shio and Emi out in New Jersey.

We rented out an indoor play area so that the four of them could hang out.

Unfortunately, we did have one scuffle at the end of the day... Sorry Phin!!

We are so happy to have FINALLY been able to meet all of Shio's #Twiba friends! Thanks for meeting us guys!!!
