Shio's Birthday! + NYCSR Donation

Wishing our main little furry man, Shio, a very happy 4th birthday!

He may have been born on Christmas eve during the busy holiday season but we always make time to do something extra special for him!

We started this blog when he was a wee 3 months old and it's very amazing how quickly time flies. We thank you readers for joining this fabulous journey with us!

For Shio's 4th Birthday and Emi's 1st Gotcha Day this year we bought and served them salmon and tuna sashimi! Unfortunately because they were just getting over some tummy troubles from last month, J and I decided it would be best to cook the fish before serving.

Regardless of the fact that we decided to cook the fish first, Shio and Emi really enjoyed it! Shio gulped down his food as usual and sat and waited for Emi to finish so that he could scavenge for leftovers. Emi thoroughly enjoyed her meal and there was nothing left for the birthday boy!

We also bought Shio a very special gift this year. It's a mongolian lamb pillow from West Elm. Whenever we bring the pups to West Elm, Shio has never wasted time rubbing himself all over the pillow so it was only fitting that he should finally have his own. Shio wasted no time getting acquainted with his new gift!

NYCSR Donation

Thank you all for spending a minute and commenting on the blog! We know that you all have very busy lives and it was nice to see comments from all our internet and blog friends. We raised a whopping $95 this year for NYC Shiba Rescue!

Happy holidays to all!

Shio's Birthday and NYCSR Christmas Donation!

Happy Birthday to our Shio! I can't believe that he's already 3 years old! Time flies when you're busy getting owned by a Shiba.

Shio and Emi a huge bone to celebrate Shio's birthday. And by huge, we mean bigger-than-Shio huge!

In honor of Emi's Gotcha Day and Shio's Birthday, we previously held a small blog post commenting fundraiser to earn money to donate to NYC Shiba Rescue.

Thanks to our friends and family for taking time out of their busy days to comment. You've helped raised $200 to donate to NYC Shiba Rescue!

Thank you also for all the well wishes for Emi's adoption. I'd like to point out that our favorite post was from Joanna, a volunteer at NYCSR. Her comment was, "Great story and beautiful pictures! I have already spoken to one couple who found the rescue, NYC Shiba Rescue, from reading your blog and have since applied to foster to adopt! Thanks for being out there and spreading the word for beautiful shibas looking for loving homes like yours!" In the beginning, we created this blog to document the process of raising Shio so we had something to look back on. As time passed and we met more and more people around the world with Shibas, it became a way to share our Shiba stories with the world. I'm so happy that we are now helping others that stumble upon this site to experience volunteering and fostering experiences through our eyes. Fostering is really a priceless experience!

Funds are still needed to help pay for the 10 of the NJ-22 Shibas rescued through NYCSR. If you would also like to make a Christmas donation, you can do so through this site: http://nycshibarescue.org/2011/11/funds-needed-10-nj-22/

Shibal Inu Etsy Shop

Yay! This week, we won the Natto's birthday giveaway contest from our Shibal Inu pals! Even more awesome than winning was being able to get a sneak peak at Gina's special Shibal cards just as her red craft works Etsy shop opened up for business.

Be sure to visit her shop for cute Shibal occasion cards!

*A portion of the proceeds are donated to the NYC Shiba Rescue. What could be better than that?!*

Thanks Gina!

Puppyyyy...

Feeling pretty sad about Shio moving on to adulthood. In 2 weeks, he'll be at his first birthday. Lately, I've been feeling pretty sad as the mum of our precious fur-baby and calling him "puppy" all the time. "Puppy - sit."

"Come here puppy."

"Puppy, no!"

"Pupppyyyyyyy..."

*sniffles* I guess he had to grow up some day. Can't believe this day is coming so soon.
