Shiba Kisses

As we mentioned before, we met Jonathan Fleming in Brooklyn two weekends ago and had a small photo-fest with Shio and the Shibal Inus. Jonathan posted up the photos from our meeting on his website recently, and I can't help but stare at one picture of Shio sitting and looking up at the camera.

I just adore the little glimmer in his eyes and the slight pink in his ears. Then there are his cute little whiskers that curl downwards to match his curly tail.

But most importantly, I love this picture because my favorite place to give Shio his Shiba kisses on his face usually happens when he gives me this look. I usually crouch and grab hug him around the neck, immobilizing his head, so I can give him a quick smackeroo right in between his eyes. The favorite spot is right here:

He doesn't like it but that's okay. It's my second that I get to love me some Shio.

You can see more great pictures of Shio on Jonathan Fleming's website here: http://jonathanfleming.wordpress.com/2011/09/18/the-shiba-blogger-meetup-in-new-york/

Where do you love to kiss your Shiba?

Shio vs. Jonathan Fleming Part II

Jonathan Fleming posted up photos from our small meetup from last week! You can view them here: http://jonathanfleming.wordpress.com/2011/09/18/the-shiba-blogger-meetup-in-new-york/

Shio has never looked cuter. Wouldn't you agree?

Thank you for the wonderful photos Jonathan, Bridget, and Josh!

His Royal Diva-ness

Took Shio to Central Park for some off-leash running time this morning. Given the amount of pent up energy he's had in the last few days, I figured that he would run it all off at the park. Or so I thought. We arrived at the park and walked up to the Great Hill.

He looked to his right.

He looked to his left.

Back to the right for another looky-loo.

And stood around some more.

Then went to his favorite protest position when I tried to get him to walk around.

Driving in the fact that he refuses to budge by being dead weight.

It's true. Our Shiba is a diva. A royal diva pain the the... well, you know.

The Blame Game

I don't know what it's like to have a child but I imagine that having a dog helps prepare a couple for one. For instance, Josh and I sat around playing the blame game today.

Me: Shio kept me up all night. Josh: Because he's been sitting at home the last three days and has a lot of energy. Me: I would've taken him out to play this morning had he not kept me up by barking at lights outside all night. Josh: That's because you left him at home all day yesterday. Me: But I made sure to run around until he was tired before we went to bed last night. Josh: Maybe you got him all excited before bed so he stayed up all night. Me: *rips hair out*

This conversation was just a no-win situation. For me.

Meanwhile, our lazy Shiba sleeps in until noon today.
